Benefits of Laser Tattoo Removal

  • No Scarring
The laser light is designed to leave your healthy skin cells alone. This means that the potential for scarring is low, which contrasts removal methods that rely upon “sanding” the skin.
  • Effective fading and removal of tattoos
Laser removal can effectively diminish the appearance of tattoos without the lasting effects that can make other methods of removal undesirable.
  • Minimal Recovery
After receiving treatments of laser tattoo removal, you need to protect your skin from ultraviolet radiation for a few days. A small amount of redness and tenderness may persist, but these effects should subside within a few days of treatment.
  • Removing Specific or entire tattoos
Laser tattoo removal can remove specific tattoos or cleanse entire regions of your body from tattoos.
  • Safety
Laser tattoo removal is one of the safest ways to remove tattoos. The risk of infection is minimal, few undesirable side effects occur after receiving treatment and comfort tends to stay high during the treatment process.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Laser tattoo removal works by allowing the light to pass through the second layer of skin (called the dermis). This is where the ink sits and is broken into particles by the laser. The body then removes the fragments by its immune system.

How many sessions are required?

Due to various reasons there is no accurate estimation of treatments required without a consultation. The sessions will depend on size, colour, age and type of tattoo.

Does Laser Tattoo removal hurt?

Unfortunately, yes however the amount of pain felt will depend on the type of tattoo, the area and your own pain threshold. Some clients describe it as an elastic band twanging against the skin, others a sharp pinprick. It varies for each client but here at the laser place we use cooling technology to help a more comfortable removal session. Treatments need 6-12 weeks to heal after each session.

how long will each session take?

Laser tattoo removal sessions can take anything from 5 minutes to up to an hour depending on the tattoo that is being treat. Sessions are normally 6-12 weeks apart to allow healing. Aftercare is given to all our clients.

Pre-Care

  • No recent sun exposure, tan or self-tanners prior to the treatment as the risk of hyper/hypo pigmentation (lightening or darkening of the skin) is greatly increased with sun exposure.
  • Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin like hash chemicals and depilatories; 1-2 weeks before treatment and 2-4 weeks after treatment. Do not resume these treatments until the skin has fully healed.
  • Treatment area should be clean shaven of all hair
  • Moderate to significant discomfort is expected with some areas more sensitive than others.
  • The area may be bruised afterwards, but will fade in 5-7 days.

After-Care

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for as long as you can
  • Avoid prolonged water exposure and excessive heat on the skin for up to 72 hours after your treatment (for example, water pressure from a long shower, exercise, swimming or soaking in the bath).
  • We recommend only warm light shower after 24 hours.
  • Avoid touching and scratching the treated area – bacteria on your hand and nails getting into the freshly lasered sensitive skin can lead to infection.
  • The area will be delicate for a few days as its healing, so care must be taken to avoid injury.
  • Heavy exercise should still be avoided for the first 2-7 days or until the swelling has been resolved.
  • DO NOT pick the skin, if its dries and scabs allow it to fall off on its own.
  • DO NOT shave the area
  • DO NOT pop or pick blisters
  • No swimming pools or hot tubs until its healed.
  • The area should only be cleaned with water while in the shower and pat dry.

Contraindications

With any laser procedure, care must be taken and you must be aware of the risks and contraindications. Treatment is strongly discouraged in the following cases:
